Can I talk myself out of being depressed?

Answered By Dane Loveless, Editor

Of course, you can. If you are concerned for yourself, talking to someone is the nicest thing you can do when you are depressed. There are people who can help you acquire the healing that you want. They are:

- A specialist at a mental health center or Mental Health Association

- A dependable family member or friend

- Your family physician

- Your priest

- A school counselor or nurse

- A social worker

- A responsible adult

- A psychologist

Otherwise, if you do not know where to go, the telephone directory or information operator should have telephone numbers for a local hotline or mental health services or recommendations.
